As a partner of major players in culture and art, JCDecaux highlights them on its street furniture every week. But this contribution goes even further...

We also transform public spaces into open-air art galleries accessible to all through our support of artistic and cultural projects worldwide. These initiatives help democratise access to art and engage diverse audiences.

Here are a few examples...

Digital Art in Madrid

In Madrid, from 6 to 9 March 2025, over 125 artists showcased their creations across more than 40 galleries during the UVNT Art Fair.

JCDecaux contributed to this event by displaying the digital artworks of 5 artists on its street furniture. This initiative allowed residents and visitors to discover contemporary artworks directly on the streets of Madrid.

Art in public spaces in the United States

In the United States, the Public Art Fund has been collaborating with JCDecaux since 2017 to showcase the works of young artists on its street furniture. As part of this collaboration, JCDecaux presented Carmen Winant's personal project, "My Mother and Eye," on its bus shelters in Boston, Chicago, and New York in early 2025. This project brings together hundreds of images from films made by the artist and her mother during their teenage travels across the United States.

The more I work in public space, the more essential it feels. Exhibiting on JCDecaux bus shelters allows the work to connect with people in the flow of everyday life. These are landscapes of personal and political freedom, shared with the public as they travel, commute, and move through the city.

Portrait of Britain: A National Celebration of Diversity

Every year since 2016, the British Journal of Photography has organised a photography award to highlight the diversity of the British nation. For one month, JCDecaux displays 100 winning portraits on its digital screens in shopping streets, malls and transport hubs, reflecting Britain's rich cultural heritage and the diversity of British people.

I couldn’t imagine a better way to start the New Year than with Portrait of Britain on our national network of Out-of-Home digital screens - showcasing the power of the public screen to reach audiences out and about in cities across the UK. It is a joyous, inclusive and thought-provoking celebration of what it means to live in Britain today.
