In Germany, DOOH EXPLORATION has transformed street furniture into artistic stages, offering passers-by creative pauses as they go about their day. This collaboration between OBJ.Studio and WallDecaux was recently recognized with an award at the DOOH Creative Challenge.

In Germany, OBJ.Studio and WallDecaux collaborated to create DOOH EXPLORATION, a project that turned street furniture into spaces for creation. Since its launch in the summer of 2024, it has offered passers-by a ten-second escape. By exploring the potential of digital art in public spaces, OBJ.Studio's resources have been used to create memorable experiences.

We are transforming this media into a space for experimentation, where urban landscapes blend with digital art. We become the frame for urban art and DOOH becomes the stage for creations, from advertisers or artists.

Marketing Director, WallDecaux

In its second edition, DOOH EXPLORATION showcased the work of eleven emerging artists who reimagined movement, form, and visual storytelling in the urban landscape. These artists (Christine Papst, Jo Rychlik, Kevin Jaeger, Lucas Gutierrez, Lucas Hesse, Robin Schneider, Aurora Mititelu, Frieda Femfert, Maria Gysi, Nikolai Frerichs and Sophia Becker), transformed German cities with their creations, visible on WallDecaux's digital displays.

The creations were visible in fourteen German cities: Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Cologne, Kaiserslautern, Wiesbaden, Mannheim, Ludwigshafen, Freiburg, Saarbrücken, and Stuttgart. Through their diversity and innovation, the works also influenced the design of some commercial campaigns, borrowing similar elements.

Through this approach, DOOH EXPLORATION has demonstrated that art can capture and stimulate our senses, even in the most familiar urban environments. Digital displays and art thus form an alliance as harmonious as that between screens and advertising.

This project has recently been honoured at the prestigious DOOH Creative Challenge, organised by the Institute for Digital Out of Home Media (IDOOH). The award ceremony, held on the 14th of October in Düsseldorf, showcased an impressive array of talent, with a total of 83 submissions across six different categories. The project won the “silver” award in the “Best of DOOH Content” category, in collaboration with OBJ.Studio.
