The world’s first virtual store was put in place last June 2011 in Seoul’s subway by Tesco’s local firm called Homeplus. This campaign was a big success in South Korea and was rewarded for both its highly innovative character and its online sales results. Using the virtual display, people could scan the relevant barcode or QR code with their Phone-App to order different products and were even able to organize for home delivery that day. In January 2012 Tesco Homeplus expanded this campaign in the streets of Seoul and constituted the 6th Virtual-Store campaign ran by JCDecaux around the world since august 2011.
