To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lego in Australia, the famous plastic brick company collaborated with several artists to organise a unique brickwork exhibition on Macquarie Street in Sydney.  From May 29th to June 4th, Australians could admire the 10 incredibly creative and colourful Lego made artworks on bus shelter panels. For this campaign, Australian artists were invited to submit their own distinct design and a few were then picked to be built with Lego. To do so, Ryan McNaught, one of the only 13 LEGO Certified Professionals in the world, and his team of skilful helpers constructed the final pieces from almost 300,000 LEGO bricks over the course of three weeks. For this innovative campaign, LEGO Australia worked in partnership with JCDecaux Australia to create ten bespoke acrylic panels to host these artworks.
But Lego didn't stop there.  They have also teamed up with Google and released a new 3D Lego app available on Chrome browser. It allows you to build 3D Lego creations, which can then be placed across the whole of Australia's and New Zealand's web map. It is simple, funny, and innovative, so we’ve gave it a go too. What do you think of this first virtual 3D Lego JCDecaux Panel!
