The opening of the exhibition in London of Robert Montgomery’s work is the opportunity to look at the use of art in outdoor. (more details about the exhibition:  http://www.kkoutlet.com/) Outdoor is by nature the ideal medium for showcasing art on a large scale and insert it in the urban landscape. Robert Montgomery is a British artist who uses typical outdoor spaces such as billboards, bus shelters for text-based art “part poetry, part an enquiry into our collective unconscious” saying he writes it in a loose way for "the city" (quotation from Dazed and Digital).
© Robert Montgomery JCDecaux Lithuania took advantage of their outdoor network to showcase a sort of outdoor museum in October 2008 and highlight both the art of posters and the power of posters to communicate important messages. The posters were from 1900 to 1940 and the exposition changed every week covering the five largest cities. This project was set up in cooperation with Lithuanian museums.
A more recent campaign was the Vauxhall Corsa street art competition which received over 10,000 entries. Facebook users were asked to design a scene featuring a Corsa using a drawing application. Paintings were then posted to a central gallery and each week a selection of gallery images were showcased on the site. Fans were asked to vote for their favorite piece of artwork. The most voted for entries were judged by Vauxhall and three independent judges from the world of graffiti and street art.
