Design studioIn order to satisfy the growing needs of cities, JCDecaux invests in research & development focused on “multi-functional” and “intelligent” street furniture. The Group has created an integrated design studio for this very purpose, comprised of 110 engineers and technicians responsible for developing new solutions designed to enhance urban development.
- State-of-the-art technology
Recent innovations include: - Remote controlled advertising panels (time sharing): by displaying advertising campaigns at precise dates and times, the “time sharing” system revolutionizes the traditional billboard system and opens up new prospects for a rapidly evolving advertising medium. - Cyclocity®: a bicycle hire scheme linked to electronic terminals. 900 bicycles have been delivered to the city of Vienna, Austria, while the cities of Gijon and Cordoba in Spain have also adopted this system. In 2005, the Urban Community of Lyons was equipped with 1,000 bicycles. In 2006, Brussels has been equipped with Cyclcocity® (250 bicycles), and there are 3,000 Vélo'v in Lyon and Marseille, Aix en Provence and Mulhouse have chosen Cyclocity - Plasma screens: halfway between billboard displays and television, digital screens incorporated in street furniture provide outstanding image quality and are extremely flexibility to use. The poster can be animated, and the succession of different content is managed by satellite from a computerized control station - Aéo®: the first TV medium dedicated to passenger/airport relations was developed in partnership with Aéroports de Paris, the Paris Airport Authority (ADP). This broadcast medium makes it possible to inform and entertain passengers during the check-in process, boarding and arrival. The system boasts a total of 107 screens within the Roissy Charles de Gaulle (Halls E, F and F2) and Orly Ouest airports (Halls 1, 2, 3, 4 and central concourse). A veritable content-rich medium, Aéo® broadcasts loops of 30-minute programmes chiefly focused on sport and leisure activities. These are then followed by news, weather reports, advertising and sports programmes, etc. |
